  • A Television Director directs the episodes to be telecasted on television. The role of director varies on the kind of serial he is given to direct. It can be a daily soap, or a live broadcast of an event. A Television Director has to monitor the accurate placement of cameras, microphones and lighting elements on the set. In case of directing the dramas, the role of a Television director is similar to that of films. He directs the actor about their role and explains the demands of the situation. Locating the props on the sets according to the situation is also the work of a Television Director. Though the job is challenging and demands working in lot of stress but on the other hand can be extremely rewarding.

    2. Did you find the training part of this field easy, interesting, difficult or boring?
    Start your answer with an affirmative reply. You can quote that the job is demanding and requires lot of efforts. Quote some examples from your training part where it was quite challenging for you to learn but you loved the knowledge you gained.

    3. Tell about your previous work or the projects you took?
    The question is very important .Try to be specific in your answer. Mention one of your work which was challenging but you enjoyed doing. If you are a new comer to this field then tell about your work that you did during your training time or the college level. Do mention your achievements.

    5. Can you classify the field of Television Direction?
    The Television Direction is classified into two categories: Single Camera and Multiple Camera work. In a Single Camera production single shot is taken. It is similar as in the case of films. Camera placements and lighting elements are done with accurate precision. Several retakes are allowed. Out of sequence shots are taken that are later assembled and edited. The examples of such work are soap operas. The Multi Camera work is done for real time events that are broadcasted live. Several cameras with different orientations cover different views. This area requires more of technical skills in place of creative efforts.
