An assistant designer has to work closely with designers. They have to perform a wide variety of tasks which include advising workers who sew garment parts together on procedures, such as type of stitching, positioning of collars and sleeves on garments, and correcting defects. It is a challenging position and they might also need to work for long hours in order to produce what the designers want.

So, in this article I am mainly going to tell you about some very important questions that are frequently asked in an Assistant Designer Interview. I hope these questions would greatly help you to prepare for your interview.

1. Can you roughly tell us about the work profile of an assistant designer?
An assistant designer has to closely work with the designers. They observe or check product condition from product development stages. Design assistant update and maintain patterns and existing specs in Illustrator and Gerber. They help design manager with development of product line by managing technical aspects of the product development process. They also need to contact models and select the best ones for their designs.

2. Tell us something about the responsibilities that you performed in your previous jobs?
In my previous position as I performed various tasks that are closely related with helping the designer and management. I was responsible for analyzing and learning new styles construction from Design Manager and Senior Product Designer. In addition to this I also had to Design assistant records and track the outgoing and incoming sample including factory counter samples, photo samples, original prototypes and test samples.

3. Can you highlight your duties that you had in your previous position?
In my previous jobs I had to create presentation boards, line lists and calendars. I also had to sort, selection and organization of style trend information and components for new products. I maintained strong communications with the operations team and offered answers to the overseas as well as domestic vendors.

2. We would now like to know something about your skills that are related with this field?
I have various skills that would surely be an asset for your firm. I possess excellent experience with illustrator CS3 and other Design programs. I also have good knowledge pattern making sewing, designing, and lay out the materials. My computer skills include working with Dreamweaver, Macromedia fireworks, Power Point and Microsoft PowerPoint.
