Help Desk Interview Questions

A help desk is a place that a user of information technology can call to get help with a problem. People at this position have to answer phone calls, listen and question effectively, interpret and solve problems, give simple technical support and keep track of problems and resolutions.

An interview is a recruitment process in which a potential interviewer asks questions from a prospective candidate. Given below are some common interview questions that come up again and again during interviews for this post.

    1. How do you handle unhappy customer?
It is very important for any business to satisfy their customer. Unfortunately unhappy customers are part and parcel of running a business. Well, I generally handle unsatisfied customers by listening them. The main thing a disgruntled customer wants is to be heard. So I let them speak first and thereafter I try to solve their problem.

    2. Please tell some of the areas in which you consider yourself to be an expert?
This question is basically asked to know your interests and likings. You have to tell the interviewer that you understand the overall systems environment as well as specific products. Just highlight your specialist skills and tell them how your skills will benefit this position.

    3. So tell me a bit about yourself?
It is a very common interview question. The interviewer is looking for a quick overview of your academics. The interviewer is not interested in your family, pets, or hobbies. Just tell the interviewer about your professional self. The best way to answer this is to give a brief summary of your qualification so far, focusing on your specific accomplishments.

    4. What is your experience for this post?
First of all you have to list your most recent experience. Just emphasize on your achievements and contributions. You can say that - I have ample experience in this field. In my previous job I used to provide local and remote desktop support for corporate headquarters and satellite locations.

    5. What are your computer skills?
I have proficiency and ample experience of working on Windows XP, 2000, 98, 95, NT. I am also familiar with software’s such as WordPerfect 9.0, IManage/infoRite, Docs open, Sql, softwise MacroSuite, and legal MacPac. I can easily learn new technologies.
