A comedian is a professional entertainer who tells jokes or performs various other comic acts. He is a performer who makes people laugh. A comedian is different from a clown. A clown wear funny clothes and makeup to make people laugh but a comedian focus on a verbal style of humor.
Some comedians only answer questions with jokes, while others are willing to take a more serious turn. Question which are usually asked to the comedians are as under:
1. According to You who is the funniest comedian?
Tell the name of your favorite comedian to the interviewer. Also state that he makes me shake uncontrollably with laughter and I can always relate to what he is saying.
2. What elements are essential to a great comedic performance?
There are two sides to comedy. One is the writing itself, which is to say what you are saying, and the other is performance side, or how you are saying it. A great comedian is one who excels in both the aspects.
3. Who are the performers that have influenced you the most?
I was certainly inspired by some British comedy when I was a kid. These days I do not watch a ton of stand-up, because I prefer not to be heavily influenced by what somebody else is doing.
4. Who is the worse comedian you have ever heard?
You must not pin point anyone. You can say that I do not like those comedians who boast themselves and beg for applause and laughs.
5. Why do you want this job?
You can answer this question in a funny way. You can say that I have bills to pay and need money.
6. What’s your greatest weakness?
This question is a great opportunity to put a positive spin on something negative. You can say that I have never been very comfortable with public speaking which as you know, can be a hindrance in the workplace. Realizing this was a problem, I asked my previous employer if I could enroll in a speech workshop. He said “yes.” I took the class, and I was able to overcome my lifelong fear. Since then, I have given lots of performances to the live audiences but I still do not love it.
7. According to you what is a stand-up comedy
Stand-up comedy is a comic monologue performed by one person standing on a stage. It is a style of comedy, where a comedian performs or talks to a live audience.
