A computer operator is a trained person who controls and monitors all the operations of a computer system. He or she works with computers on a daily basis and partakes in a number of activities relative to such operation. A computer operator looks after the running of computer systems, and ensures that the machines are physically secured.
In this article, I would like to provide you some basic questions that come up again and again during interviews for the post of Computer Operator.
1. What kinds of skills are required to become a good computer operator?
A computer operator should be able to read and understand the instructions and information presented in English. People who hold this position should also have the ability to function successfully in both team and independent work environments and under pressure. They have to understand the problems related with the computer and program.
2. Tell me something about the responsibilities and authorities that you have taken in your previous job?
I have ample experience in this field. In my previous job I performed innumerable responsible tasks, I had to operate all computers and auxiliary equipments, I use to install, replace and adjust the belts, ribbons, filters and other objects in order to maintain equipments and I had to prepare equipments for operations. I was also responsible for installing, trouble shooting, backup, configuration, security, upgrade, recovery etc.
3. Tell me about your educational qualifications, experience and skills?
Well, while working as a computer operator I have leaned to install, upgrade and configure the equipments. I worked with Windows 9x, Windows 2000, Windows XP, MS Dos, Linux, and UNIX. I possess a great knowledge of LAN/WAN configuration, internet firewalls and wireless technology.
4. How do you handle stress and pressure?
You can answer this question by saying that, I like to work in challenging environment and I give better result while working under pressure. I enjoy challenges and deadlines.
5. Why do you want to leave your current job?
Keep your answer to this question as positive as possible. Do not tell on how much you hate your previous boss. The interviewer wants to hire a team player to the position, not a negative and cruel hater.
