  • A Data Architect is a person who makes sure that the data assets of an organization are supported by an architecture supporting the organization in achieving the goals. He or she needs to understand from where the data is coming, and how to structure that data so that it can be consumed readily, regardless of its source system.

    I think a Data Architect should be able to develop data strategies and associated plans and policies. He should possess knowledge of logical data modeling and physical data modeling. He or she should be familiar with the data warehouse tools and software.

    2. What is your professional experience ?
    Do not mention your entire experience; just tell about the experience that you have in this field. I have worked on various big projects in my 6 year career. I have ample experience and knowledge of data dictionaries, data warehousing, application integration, metadata registry, relational database and structured query language. I have worked independently to examine processes, data, and the environment to suggest solutions.

    3. Tell me about your skills ?
    I have strong data modeling, communicational, interpersonal, business, problem solving and professional consulting skills. I also have ample knowledge of data warehouse market, vendors, and standard bodies.

    4. What is a data block and what is a data file ?
    A Data block is a logical space where Oracle database data is stored whereas a Data files contain all the database data. Every Oracle database has one or more than one data files.

    5. What is data warehouse architecture ?
    Data Warehouse architecture is a three tier architecture. There is a bottom tier, middle tier and upper tier. It is the repository of integrated information data which are extracted from the heterogeneous sources.

    6. What is an Integrity Constrains? What are different types of Integrity Constraints ?
    Integrity Constrains are certain requirements that the data in a database need to meet. It is a way to define a business rule for a column of a table.

    There are 5 integrity constraints in oracle. They are not null, unique key, primary key, foreign key and check.

    7. What salary range are you looking for ?
    You can provide the exact range for salary. However, tell that you are prepared to negotiate and cooperate. You can also say that lets first talk about the job requirements and expectations, so I can get a sense of what you need, then decide the salary.
