  • A Dental Assistant is a person who works under the supervision of dentists. They play a very important role in oral health profession. He or she is responsible for performing various activities which include sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipments, preparing and laying out the instruments and materials required to treat each patient.

    A dental assistant works under Oral Surgeons, Dentists and Orthodontists. Given below are some important questions that come up again and again in interviews for the post of Dental Assistant.

    1. So tell me a bit about yourself ?

    It is a very common interview question. The interviewer is looking for a quick overview of your academics. The interviewer is not interested in your family, pets, or hobbies. Just tell the interviewer about your professional self. The best way to answer this is to give a brief summary of your qualification so far, focusing on your specific accomplishments.

    2. Please tell us something about your educational qualification and skills?
    I have recently completed my graduation from one of the well known Dental collage. During my internship I have gained clinical experience in taking Oral x-rays, removing sutures, cleaning up excess cement from a filling, applying treatment to teeth and gums. I am capable of working in field such as healthcare, research, food service and customer service retail. I have outstanding ability to keep cooperative working relationship with clients, co-workers, patients and customers. I am creative, hard working, and optimistic person.

    3. What roles and responsibilities have you performed in your internship period?
    I was responsible for performing various important roles which include preparing material for impression and restoration, taking dental X-rays, applying topical anesthetics to gums, and scheduling and confirming appointments. I also ordered dental supplies and materials and helped in other office duties.

    4. What is more important for you: Money or work?
    Well, it is a bit tricky question. You can say that - Money and work both are like siblings. But I believe when you work hard then money will automatically flow to you. So work is more important than money.

    5. How do you handle stress and pressure?
    You can answer this question by saying that, I like to work in challenging environment and I give better result while working under pressure. I enjoy challenges because I diffuse the stress.
