Facilities Management Interview Questions

  • Facility management is a field where a person has to check and upkeep and care of the buildings (commercial or institutional buildings) such as complexes, schools, resorts, historical monuments, hotels etc. The duty of a facility manager is very wide. The duty includes care of lighting system, air conditioning, cleaning, decoration, security etc. It is the facility manager’s duty to keep the maintenance in a cost effective manner. The facility managers are recruited by, shopping centers, airports, universities, warehouses etc.

    Some of the interview questions are as follows.

    1. Tell us about your experience in preparing documents for contractors.
    You should present your experiences in order to get the attention of the recruiters. Tell them your few experiences, how you prepared the documents for tenders. What difficulties you faced during your preparation. Which was your easiest project, tell them about your toughest project and how you worked.

    2. Have you ever worked for government organization on a contract basis?
    It depends on you, if you ever worked for the government organization then tell them about it, how was your experience etc. if you did not work for government organization then say no. Be focused to your answer.

    3. If you get selected and the department is relocating then what will you do?
    Here you have to maintain a balance between your professional and personal life because might be the department is shifting very far away from your native place. So give the answer according to your preferences.

    4. What are your weaknesses?
    Tell them about your weaknesses in detail and spin it to in a positive way.

    5. What are your strengths?
    Remember your strengths should be career building. Tell them some of your greatest strengths and how they are very helpful to you.

    6. Why did you leave your last job?
    Again it’s a challenging question. Present your views and give them a positive light. You can say there was not so much work in my previous job and I want to utilize my skills so applied in your company. Remember don’t say the previous company was paying me less money so I left the job, if your said this then the recruiter will think that you are money minded, your preference is money not work.

    Read the questions and their answers very carefully and do hard research on the company in which you are applying for the job, and don’t get nervous during your interview.
