Geologist is a scientist who studies the solid and liquid matter that constitutes the Earth and terrestrial planets. He helps in planning and evaluating excavations, construction sites, environmental remediation projects, natural disaster and natural resources.

1. How is your geological experience relevant to the work that we do at this company?
You have to state the roles and responsibilities that were presented to you in your previous job. Focus on those experiences that directly relate to the current position. You can say that, my broad knowledge of principles and methods for describing the features of land, sea, and air masses, including their physical characteristics, locations, interrelationships, and distribution of plant, animal, and human life will be extremely useful to your organization.
2. Why did you choose this profession?
It is a very interesting question to answer. Tell the interviewer all the facts and reasons for choosing this stream. You can say that, I am passionate about collecting the samples of minerals, fossils and rocks. It gives me great amount of pleasure. I love the earth and I am very curious to know about my planet.
3. State some of your technical skills.
Tell the interviewer the technologies and soft wares that you are well aware of. As a geologist, I am familiar with various GIS tools. I have command over ArcGIS, AutoCAD, AutoCAD MAP, Techbase mine evaluation software, MODFLOW and Microsoft Office suite.
4. What are applications of ArcGIS Desktop?
ArcGIS is a suite consisting of a group of geographic information system (GIS) software products produced by ESRI. Applications of ArcGIS Desktop are Arc Map, Arc Catalog and Arc Toolbox.
5. Why should I hire you?
Demonstrate your accomplishments in front of the interviewer. One has to tell reasons as to why he fits into this position. Think of all the positive traits in your personality that makes you suitable for the job. You have to tell how your studies, skills, experience and personal qualities will contribute to the work of the organization.
6. What did you make at your last job?
Tell honestly about your last compensation. Don not overstate or inflate your previous earnings. Interviewers verify your references to confirm your salary history.
