  • A groundskeeper is person who is responsible for maintaining landscapes, gardens, parks and sporting venues for appearance and functionality. He or she has wide range of knowledge of horticulture, pest control, and weed abatement.

    An interview is a two way communication between an interviewee and interviewer in which questions are asked by the interviewer to obtain information from interviewee. Some of the questions which are frequently asked to Groundskeeper in interviews are as under:

    1. Please tell us something about your skills and capabilities?
    I have worked as a part of the team of groundskeepers for the past two years. I have intensive knowledge of practices and procedures used in ground maintenance. I have the ability to handle heavy objects and equipment, and read and understand label instructions on chemicals. I have been a field worker, caring for and maintaining the campground and surroundings, clearing snow in the winter, and collecting leaves in the autumn, as well as watering grounds and tending the proper care of grassy areas.

    2. Tell us something about the skills that are required to become a good Groundskeeper?
    The job of groundskeeper is very crucial. A successful groundskeeper is one who possess deep information and capability to do ground and law maintenance. He or she should have excellent knowledge of repair practices and procedures. People who hold this position should be able to carry out ground maintenance activities efficiently.

    3. Mention some job specific tasks that you have performed in your previous job?
    The have performed various job specific tasks such as handling different hand and control tools. I had to pull out garbage, trim plants, plant various types of grasses and plants, and highlight post and symbols. I also managed grounds and maintained operations in accordance with general and seasonal requirements. I was also responsible for repairing and maintaining interior and exterior properties.

    4. What are your weak and strong points?
    It is an excellent question which gives you a nice chance to put an optimistic turn on something negative. You have to cast your negatives into positives. Like in weakness you can say that I am too focused toward my work and I think I should take out time for myself. As far as strong points are concerned, they expect a simple answer from you. Just tell that you are hardworking, careful, perfectionist and determined.
