Hotel desk clerks perform numerous important duties. They check the guests into the hotel and assign them satisfactory rooms. They feed questions from guests regarding everything from room price to hotel services and often operate hotel computers. They usually process mail, collect payments, record accounts, handle reservations, operate the telephone switchboard, and do bookkeeping. They often direct guests to local stores, restaurants, and tourist attractions.
2. What discriminate a good hotel desk clerk from a bad one? What qualities are required to become a successful hotel desk clerk?
A successful hotel desk clerk must be familiar with the floor plan of the hotel, the hotel’s fire escape routes, and the hotel’s various mechanical systems. He or she should be confident, enthusiastic and good looking. They must have good typing, phone and clerical skills along with excellent ability to interact with people.
3. How do you handle any unsatisfied and unhappy customer?
It is very important for any business to satisfy their customer. Unfortunately unhappy customers are part and parcel of running a business. Well, I generally handle unsatisfied customers by listening them. The main thing a disgruntled customer wants is to be heard. So I let them speak first and thereafter I try to solve their problem.

5. How do you handle stressful situations?
You can answer this question by saying that, I like to work in challenging environment and I give better result while working under pressure. I enjoy challenges and deadlines because I diffuse the stress.
