Hotel director of sales is a highly qualified person who is responsible for creating strategies, tactics and programs of a hotel. They are liable for planning, organizing, staffing, training, and managing all functions to achieve the hotel’s objective of sales, growth, profits, and visibility.

It is a very general and frequently asked question. The answer to this question can vary from person to person. It is an excellent opportunity to explain the extensive process of research and education that you have undertaken. Tell them about your strengths and how you match up with the hotel industry. You can say that there is a bright scope and career opportunities in this field.
2. What qualities are required for this post?
An effective hotel sales director should have proven sales and supervisory experience in the hospitality industry along with excellent leadership qualities. He or she should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and communicational skills. They must be able to organize time effectively and work with minimal supervision. They must be able to work successfully in team as well as individual work environment along with extended hours.
3. Please elaborate about roles and duties that you had in your previous organization?
In my previous organization I performed numerous important duties such as supervising and directing the entire sales department, hiring and training all the new employees in the sales department of the hotel accurately, directing the maintenance of all file systems and maintaining effective communications with the general manager and the catering Manager regarding the catering function. I also maintained effective communication with the front office and revenue departments regarding group rooms business. I was responsible for maintaining positive image for the hotel in the marketplace so I use to exercises the policies and procedures effectively.
4. Are you happy with your career-to-date?
This question is really about your self-esteem, confidence and career aspirations. The answer must be ‘yes’, followed by a brief explanation as to what it is about your career so far that’s made you happy. If you have hit a career plateau, or you feel you are moving too slowly, then you must qualify your answer.
