Hotel Management is a Hospitality Industry which has a number of departments under it. A Hotel Manager or sometimes called the General Manager of the hotel looks and controls the finances and the norms of the hotel to be followed by the employees while offering their services to the guests, housekeeping, food quality, interiors etc. Whereas, duty of an Assistant Manager is to run the daily operation of the departments. Some Hotels have Resident Managers also who provide their services round the clock. Here these different department managers are supervised by the top management. Some major departments of the hotel industry are: Front Office, Food and Beverages (F&B), Marketing, House Keeping.

You have to tell about the various departments of a hotel which I have discussed above, that was only the departments but you have to tell about their functions also. Give the importance of each department in a hotel.
2. Why did you join the hotel industry as a profession?
Tell your interviewers that this profession suites to your personality as you have some very important qualities like patience, work under pressure etc. which are the some basic qualities one should have in this kind of profession.
3. What are the duties of a front office manager?
There are many duties and responsibilities of a front office manager in a hotel in which some of them are staff scheduling, staff training, interdepartmental communications etc. They also handle the customers need. A front office manager should have very good communication skills and leadership qualities.
4. How do you handle your angry customers?
You can say that I am always ready to handle every kind of customers. I don’t overlook their negative feedback. Firstly I listen to their problems carefully and then I do everything possible to solve it. Lastly I express regret for the fault. So it is a kind of profession where everybody has to be ready for facing these types of situations. Express yourself in such a way before to your recruiters that you are very cool and calm person.
5. Anything which you want to ask from us?
You can ask some questions from them as they are offering to you to put some query. Don’t say I do not have any questions or I do not want to ask anything from you. For that you can prepare some questions before your interview.
