  • A house keeper is an employee in a hotel who is responsible for the cleaning and maintaining the hotel. They have to clean floor, rooms, towels, linen, bedding and other laundry items.

    An interview is a 2 way communication between an interviewee and interviewer in which questions are asked by the interviewer to obtain information from interviewee. Given below are some common interview questions that come up again and again during interviews for the post of housekeeper.

    1. Tell us something about the roles and responsibilities that you had in your previous positions?
    In my previous hotel I was responsible for managing, cleaning and up keeping rooms and public areas. I have to supervise laundry and cleanliness, purchase food and equipments, manage the drivers and other required staff, supervise parties and dinners with the chef and coordinate between housekeeping crew and other staff.

    2. Do you wish to work with others or on your own?
    This question is prepared to know whether you are suitable for the job for which you are applying. If you are going to be part of a team, you should enjoy working with others. On the other hand, if you are going to work alone, it might be a good idea if you enjoy working on your own. You can say that I enjoy being part of a team and cooperating with others, but I also enjoy working on my own.

    3. How do you manage a lot of work in a short time?
    Here, the employer is looking for definite strategies that you use to manage pressure situations. Talk about prioritizing your work, cooperating with others, and making to-do lists.

    4. What do you do when you have to work with someone with whom you do not feel comfortable?
    Here, the interviewer wants to hear that you were able to put aside your differences and get the work done. They also want to hear that you are flexible, and can be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. If you do not have a work-related example, talk about a school project, or about being part of a club and learning to get along with the various people in the club.
