  • An HVAC Technician is a person who installs, maintains and repairs the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. He or she is concerned with installing new systems and maintaining existing system. They make sure that each portion of the overall system works properly and efficiently.

    An interview is a two way communication process in which a potential interviewer asks questions from a prospective interviewee. In this article, I would like to provide you some important questions that are frequently asked in interviews for this post.

    1. Please elaborate some of your skills and qualifications?

    I have handsome experience in this field. I have good knowledge of motor controls, motor control trouble shooting, and basic PLC. I can easily evaluate system efficiencies and adjust air distribution systems for propane balance, and insure safety and security in working areas. I can easily troubleshoot, repair and maintain heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. I have strong knowledge of HVAC systems and related equipments, codes and OSHA standards, and methods and techniques of installation, maintenance and repair.

    2. Tell us about the roles and responsibilities that you had taken in your previous job?
    I have 5 years of HVAC in a commercial office building and 2 years experience of building automation controls. In my previous job I used to plan, draw, and perform all installations. I was responsible for training new recruited staffs, repairing housing HVAC equipments, and designing and constructing HVAC system. I have to maintain different equipments in well conditions.

    3. What qualities are required to become a good HVAC Technician?

    A good technician must be capable of installing HVAC system in accordance with the local regulations. He should be expert in reading blueprints related to installation. The technician should be very strong in software dealing with equipment databases and generating work orders.

    4. What have been the biggest accomplishments of your career so far?

    Discuss the challenges you were presented with in your previous job, your actions, and the end result. Focus on accomplishments that directly relate to the respective position. The way you answer this question will distinguish you from other applicants since your answer will require you to go beyond the basic job responsibilities.
