  • An Information analyst deeply examines the information of the related area and provides inferences that are fruitful for the company. There are various fields where analyst are required and employed. Some common ones are accounting, business, cost, finance, industry and systems. A system analyst is the other name of Information Analysts. His main job is to analyze the technical and functional design for developing new software. He understands the requirements of the user and then gathers and analyzes the information related to it.

    I am here providing few important interview questions that are generally asked in an interview of Information Analyst:

    1. What do you mean by Information Science?
    Information science is an interdisciplinary science. It involves the analysis, classification, manipulation and storage of information. An analyst studies the usage and application of the knowledge in a firm and then interact with existing information systems taking a goal of improving the information systems.

    2. What skills are needed to become an Information Analyst?
    An information analyst studies the requirements of an organization and then recommends the suitable software and system choices after carrying out a plenty of research. He should show good analytical skills to trace and understand the needs and problems of the organization. Sound technical skills will help him to understand the technology limitations. A command over various programming languages, operating systems and hardware platforms are the technical traits that the information analyst should hold. Moreover, good interpersonal skills and efficient managerial skills will help him to manage the projects and interact with the end users and other professionals in a better way.

    3. What are the possible constraints of a project?
    Try to be specific. You can start your answer by saying that three factors put a constraint on a project. These are time, budget and the result. You can also elaborate your answer by quoting examples for each of them.

    4. If you are asked to prepare a specification for an application, how will you proceed?
    This is a very important question. Be systematic with your answer formation. Your experience and knowledge about that application will help you a lot. Point about your focus on user’s requirement and ensure that there is necessary participation of the user. Also tell how and why you will choose the hardware platform after identifying the objective of the application. Show your genuine enthusiasm for your work to the employer.
