  • Kitchen Stewards are those people who supervise kitchen employees in order to ensure clean, efficient, and economical food service. They are in charge of the affairs of a kitchen and they assign various duties to the kitchen staff.

    Nowadays there is a great demand of kitchen stewards in restaurants, hotels, fast-food places, cafes, schools, hospitals, and cafeterias in factories and office buildings. Below are list of questions which are frequently asked in interviews for this post.

    1. According to you what are the roles and responsibilities of a kitchen steward?
    A kitchen steward has to assign non cooking activities such as dishwashing and silver cleaning to the employees. He or she has to make sure that the restaurant equipment and utensils are clean, floor is scrubbed, garbage is removed, and trash is separated.

    2. Please elaborate job specific tasks that you have undertaken in your previous organization.

    In my previous hotel I have to oversee the non cooking staff and ensure cleanliness, efficient and economical food service. I was also responsible for silver cleaning, dishwashing, cookware replacement, maintenance, and overseeing performance of employees.

    3. Can you please tell us something about your skills and abilities?
    I have more than 5 years experience in this field. I have the excellent ability to supervise, manage, and motivate work crews. I also have the capability of handling multiple tasks simultaneously. I have handsome experience in all facts related to kitchen cleanliness. I have gained an extensive knowledge on different matters of food service. I have proven track record of completing difficult tasks on schedule and on tight budgets.

    4. What is an ideal job according to you?
    For me work environment and level of responsibility is most important. I would like to work in a fun, warm environment where individual works independently towards attaining team goals. I am not concerned about minor elements, such as dress codes, cubicles, and the level of formality.

    5. What are some of the aspects that you like about the job?
    This question is basically planned to know your comfort and satisfaction levels with the job. You have to tell various positive aspect which you like about this job. Just state adequate reasons as to why this job appeals you.
