Kitchen Supervisor is the mid management level position in the kitchen .He works under the watchful guidance of the Executive Chef or the Chef De Cuisine. He has to have some sort of prior kitchen working experience before acquiring this position. Kitchen supervisor has to ensure proper coordination between the cooks and the service staff. Kitchen supervisor holds an important position in respect to daily logistics and store keeping of the essential food items of a commercial kitchen. He is like a “Barker” who shouts the guest orders to the respective chefs.

1. What are the essential qualities of a Kitchen Supervisor?
A successful kitchen supervisor has to be proactive in his approach. He should be well versed with the preparation of the daily and monthly inventory report of the entire food items. He should thoroughly check the general maintenance of the entire kitchen equipments and report any malfunction to the engineering department .He should be a smooth facilitator between the kitchens pick up line and the service staff. He should constantly upgrade the senior chefs about the current developments in the kitchen. Kitchen supervisor should work closely with the stewarding supervisor in regard to the daily cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen.
2. What would you do if you have an argument with one of your senior chef?
Being a senior chef obviously commands respect from me. I would patiently speak to him in a separate place and would try to resolve the problem in the most constructive manner. I would make it a point that same mistakes do not repeat again.
3. What is the most challenging part of your current supervisory job and how do you manage to accomplish that?
The most challenging aspect of my current supervisory job is to constantly motivate, guide and train my staff in order to be more effective in the work. Owing to multicultural working environment I make it a point to be more specific and precise in my day to day operation in order to avoid any miscommunication which could lead to mishap. I constantly exert myself in the most constructive manner in the revenue generating process of my establishment.
