According to definition, it starts at the 20th to 28th week of gestation and ends 1 to 4 weeks after birth. The word “Perinatal” is a derived from the Greek word “peri” meaning “around or about” and “natal” from the Latin “natus” meaning “born”.

    Sir, Neonatal nursing is a specialized nursing practice of caring for newborn infants (neo meaning new, natal meaning birth) up to 28 days subsequent to birth.

    5. What do you mean by the Glomerular filtration rate (GFR)?
    Sir, GFR is the best measure of kidney function and helps to determine the stage of kidney disease. It shows how well the kidneys are cleaning the blood. GFR is reported in milliliters per minute. The GFR is usually worked out from the results of the creatinine blood test with age and gender. The GFR helps the doctor plan your treatment. A normal GFR is greater than 90 ml per minute.

    6. What do you mean by the Ultrasound?
    Sir, the Ultrasound is an instrument which is moved over the skin, sending and receiving ultrasound signals to make pictures of the kidneys and bladder. This is one test that is often used to measure the size of the kidneys.
