A Network Administrator holds a very respectable position in the firm, they are responsible for day to day maintenance, documentation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of information systems. He or she also has to provide Help Desk support and installing, documenting, maintaining and troubleshooting on all information technology assets. A network administrator’s work usually depends on the size of the network for which he or she is responsible.

1. Tell us about the education and training required to become a Network Administrator?
A network administrator should have a strong background in math, sciences, and computer science, as well as experience working with computers. He or she should also hold a college degree in computer science, systems science, math, or engineering. They should be familiar with a variety of network operating systems, including Microsoft, Novell, and UNIX.
2. Can you tell us about the skills that are required for this position?
A network administrator should be well versed in the integration of network and telecommunications systems including network routers deployment, server configuration, RAID storage installation, backup system implementation, phone support and full software/hardware support. They also have to constantly see the working of the network to ensure that it is running smoothly. They should also possess good communication, interpersonal, technical, management and organization skills.
3. Can you highlight on the duties that you performed in your previous jobs?
In my previous position as a network administrator I had to perform various duties. I was responsible for customizing the network to the company’s needs by connecting the necessary hardware and software to the network. Once the network was configured I had to install programs, such as e-mail, that the company’s employees use on a daily basis. My main task included to monitor the performance of the network and to troubleshoot any problems such as slow performance or network crashes.
4. What you known about the Global Catalog Server?
A global catalog server is a domain controller it is a master searchable database that contains information about every object in every domain in a forest. The global catalog contains a complete replica of all objects in Active Directory for its host domain, and contains a partial replica of all objects in Active Directory for every other domain in the forest.
