An Orthodontist is a specialist in the field of Dentistry and is liable person for the treatment of improper bites or Malocclusions. He is responsible for treating the irregularity of teeth and improvement in the disproportionate jaw. He is a trained doctor who aligns the teeth with respect to the soft tissues of jaw muscles by doing the Orthognathic surgery in adults.
Here, in my article, I am going to focus on the sample of various questions and answers which can be asked by the interviewer while you are facing the interview of an Orthodontist. Please, have a look before encounter with the interview.
1. What are the roles of an Orthodontist in the treatment and diagnosis for the teeth?
For the diagnosis and treatment planning an Orthodontist must have the following characteristics to recognize. He recognizes the various characteristics of malocclusion and dentofacial deformity. He must have quality to present the treatment strategy to the patient in such a way that the patient fully understands the ramifications of his/her decision. He uses to define the nature of the problem and design a treatment strategy based on the specific needs and desires of the individual.
2. What do you mean by Palmer’s Notation?
Well sir, the Palmer’s notation is an extensively used process to select the individual teeth. In this notation our mouth is divided into four parts called quadrants i.e. the upper left quadrant, the upper right quadrant, the lower left quadrant and the lower right quadrant. Then each individual tooth in the quadrant is given a name.
3. What do you mean by Buccal?
Sir, it is the tooth surface which is next to our cheeks, more often than not only posterior teeth touches our cheeks, so people typically use the term Buccal only when talking about the back teeth.
4. What do you mean by the Cementum?
Sir, Cementum is a bony substance covering the root of our tooth.
5. What do you mean by Crown?
Sir,it is the part of our tooth above our gum.
6. What do you mean by Cuspal?
Well sir, the chewing or the tearing points of the cuspids, bicuspids and molars of our teeth is known as Cuspal.
7. What do you mean by Dentin?
Sir, it is the calcium part of a tooth below the enamel containing the pulp chamber and root canals in our mouth.
8. What do you mean by Enamel?
Well, it is a hard ceramic which covers the exposed part of our teeth.
9. What do you mean by Frenum?
Sir, it is a small piece of pink colored skin that attaches our lips, cheeks and tongue to our mouth.
