Records Management Interview Questions

  • Records management is basically associated with managing the records and data of a company or an organization. The record manager has to maintain the records this can be include storing the data, classifying them, securing and destruction. These records can be physical or any digital information like: office documents, e-mails, application data etc.

    Some common records management interview questions are given below:

    1. How do you manage the records?
    You can say for managing the records I use some record management softwares, where I make a data of these records. I make a category where I put my records according to them. For hard copies I have a file cabinet where I store these files.

    2. Who is responsible for indexing or labeling the records?
    The indexing is done by my subordinates. But it is my responsibility to check these indexes whether they are right or not? So I will be responsible if anything goes wrong.

    3. What are records?
    Records are the collection of data of any thing which we store in computer or in any file. These are maintained in order to get the information from them when wish to know.

    4. What are your salary expectations?
    Be alert in this type of questions, your salary expectation should match to your skills. So you can say I expect a good salary from this organization. If you are more experienced person in this field and are more confident then you can say it in numeric figures.

    5. Tell us about the benefits of record management.
    There are so many benefits of maintaining a record. Some of them are, if we want to know about any historical data and want to take some informations from that then they helps a lot, if any company or any organization wants know about  his employee’s background then by using it they can easily know about him, these also helps in legal and tax purposes.
    You can give them so many of other examples also.

    6. What method you use in destruction of records?
    As these records may have some very important or secret informations of any company so these are disposed properly. The best method I use in destruction of records are getting them burnt. We apply these methods in paper records and for CD’s, Floppy’s; we generally crush them in a crushing machine.
