    1. What are the essential qualities of an efficient Restaurant Manager?

    An efficient restaurant manager has to be very competitive and analytical in his work. He has to be proactive and should gauge the essential needs and desires of the guests well in advance. He should be market savvy. He should always be ahead of its competitors. He should be a go getter and should always try to motivate, train and guide the staff. Every business wants to maximize profit and minimize losses so keeping that in mind it is the primary responsibility of a restaurant manager to generate business effectively.

    The first objective would be to stick to company’s policies and procedures without any shortcoming. Formulate an effective business plan in accordance with the current market scenario which would enhance company’s profits.

    A restaurant manager should never rest on his past laurels or achievements. He should never loose his focus and attention while accomplishing targets. He should never be lackadaisical in his approach. He should work with uttermost determination and vigor. He should constantly motivate, train and guide the staff. He should never be impatient and always be patient while listening to guest complaints. He should never let his ego hamper his work.

    4. How would you approach a certain guest who is very lousy and complaining about the food and service?
    One has to be very patient when dealing with these guests. A guest is always right no matter what are the circumstances. Give a lending ear to each guest complaint. Apologize to the guest at once and try not to repeat the same mistake. Try to fix the problem by giving some sort of discount to the guest or void the entire bill. At the end of the day the guest should leave the restaurant fully satisfied and should visit the restaurant again in the form of repeat business.
