Stage management is a sub-discipline of stage craft. Stage manager is assistance to the director of play, in overall charge back stage during the actual performance. Although a somewhat fluid line of work, in essence the stage management team (which can consist of a production stage manager, several managers, and any number of production assistants) is responsible for organizing the production, communicating across different disciplines.

1. Give a brief introduction of yours ?

This is mostly the first question being asked to you. So name ideally than reveal your candidature followed by introducing yourself. The information will entail your academics, personal details and hobbies. The information provided by you should reflect that you are applying for stage manager.

2.  what are the responsibilities of stage manager?

Briefly tell the interviewer about the duties of the stage manager that depend on the setting of the production that is rehearsals or performance and also tell the type of production being presented like Theatre, dance and music. A stage manager ensures proper documentation of each rehearsal is recorded.

3.  Do you have any kind of work experience?

You should give your profile background relating to your previous jobs.  Tell them that you have worked in different companies. What all work you handle there and how you have established the show rehearsals scheduled.

4. Can you work under pressure?

Specify the attitude of working under pressure and have arranged number of stage for the rehearsal, while maintain the organizational standards. Try to show your earned knowledge and never saying any attributes which is an inseparable demand of the job.

5. What are you weaknesses regarding to this field?

You should be careful to this question and don’t be in a hurry, you can take some seconds for that. Give the answer in that you will mould your weaknesses in a constructive way. You can say that usually I don’t receive phone call when I am work.

6. Why I should I choose you for the stage management?

Be straight forward for this answer. Tell the interviewer about all the qualities you posses for this management. Tell him in such a way that you deserve to be the best stage manager for this organization.

7. What is your salary expectation?

Here take few seconds to answer. You can say I expect a handsome salary. Don’t say in figures if it’s not asked to do so.  Briefly tell you expect this much.
