Travel management implies to making the travel strategies of corporate programs. It also includes with safety and security during travel, data management and credit- card management. It is the Travel manager’s responsibility to book hotels and tickets with airlines or trains and also negotiates the fairs, in which class the employee will travel and when to use corporate credit cards etc. The expenses of these are handled by travel manager.
Some of the interview questions which are asked during the interviews are given below.
1. Tell me about the vehicle class.
Here the vehicle class means the route designations of wheeled and motorized vehicles. Some of them are: Roads open with seasonal restrictions that means in some seasons the vehicles are not allowed to go. Road open to all vehicles, that means both licensed and unlicensed vehicles can use the road. Road open to highway legal vehicles only, which means the highway vehicles such as trucks and buses can use the road etc.
2. Can you tell us about season of use?
Yes! There are some seasons in year in which roads are restricted to use to avoid wildlife disturbance, closed or unsafe conditions.
3. What do you mean by travel management?
Here you have to define the job of a travel manager, you can say a travel manager makes or plans the corporate travel programs. Travel management includes booking the tickets according to the class of the employee and manages all the tasks during his journey etc. He uses the company’s credit card for booking the hotels etc. It also includes to decide which will be the fastest and safest way to travel for any urgent project. In any emergency the travel manager plans or cancels the journey.
4. What do you do in your free time?
This question is basically asked to know your hobbies and interests, what you like to do in your free time.
5. What are your weaknesses?
You should be careful to this question and don’t do hurry, you can take some seconds for that. Give the answer in a way that will mould your weakness into a constructive way. You can say that usually I do not pick my phone calls when I will be working for any project. I usually attend my phone calls during my free time.
It is also a very responsible job in management field as the travel manager has to take care of his employees during his journey.
