  • Writing in itself is an art. It requires a lot of creative efforts to write an article. The field is very challenging but can become very rewarding too. There are various areas where professional writers are needed. Writing for a publishing house is the most traditional. However, various emerging areas like writing for web and technical writing are becoming famous too. If you love to pen down your thoughts then this field can prove to be a promising career for you.

    So now I would like to tell you some important questions that are generally asked in an interview of a writer:

    1. Tell me about your style of writing?
    This is an important question that helps the interviewer to know about your working style. If you have been in this profession since a period then tell about the kind of writing you did. There are various types of writing like technical writing, content writing, writing for publishing houses etc. Support your answer by giving examples of your work. Try to match your skills according to the needs of your employer.

    2. Is sound grammar essential for a writer?
    Though it is the job of an editor to edit and check for possible grammatical mistakes. But being a writer and to excel in this profession, one should gain good command over the language one writes. It helps in conveying your thoughts in your own style that is without any editing and modification of your work by an editor.

    3. Why did you take this field as your profession?
    You should be confident while answering this question. If you had writing as your hobby since childhood, then do mention it. You can say that it is the activity at which you are most comfortable. Also add that passion for writing has led you to take this field as your career option. Mention any achievements you had related to this field and tell how they helped you in encouraging you to take this field as your career.

    4. Do you have any earlier experience of working? What was your CTC?
    CTC is offered to the experienced candidates. Be honest and tell the truth. If you are a fresher then tell about your work that you have written. You can also give some references about the persons who have acknowledged your writing skills during your college level.
